Anyone who is interested in learning about or is required to be qualified as a First Aider and will enable you to deal with an accident or injury in the workplace. It will qualify you to diagnose a variety of possible illnesses and injuries and will enable you to assess the need to seek further medical attention. The Emergency First Aid at Work course may help you meet your legal requirements to provide first Aid in the workplace as well as being a valuable life skill.
Anyone who is interested in learning about or is required to be qualified as an Emergency Paediatric First Aider and will enable you to deal with an accident or injury to a child or baby. The course is suitable for anyone looking after young children.
To avoid the duplication of topics associated with attending both the Emergency First Aid at Work and Emergency Paediatric First Aid courses separately, this combined course has been specifically designed for those who work in settings that require both First Aiders and Paediatric First Aiders, such as schools, sports clubs or other childcare settings.
Course Summary
Emergency First Aid at Work covers a range of topics within its syllabus, including the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations, managing incidents, priorities of first aid, treatment of unconscious casualties, resuscitation, shock, choking, seizures, bleeding and other common workplace injuries.
Emergency Paediatric First Aid covers a wide range of topics but focuses on dealing with accidents and emergencies involving young children. It includes Infant CPR and safe use of an AED, Child CPR and safe use of an AED, choking casualty, paediatric wounds, bleeding and shock, and unconscious casualty.
Length/Format
6 hours. Delivered over one day.
Pre-requisites
None. Learners must be at least 14 years of age.
Assessment
Five Practical Assessments and One Multiple-Choice Assessment. The tutor will also continually assess learners to ensure the necessary standards have been achieved.
Certification
Certificate issued by Qualsafe Awards. The qualification lasts for three years when the learner must attend the one-day Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work and Emergency Paediatric First Aid Combined course. Alternatively, the learner can attend either a Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work or a Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid course if they want to re-certify either of the two qualifications.
