This Course would benefit
Anyone in a supervisory position who wants to develop their understanding of the principles of risk assessment. Also, anyone in any position with a particular interest in health and safety who wishes to advance their learning. This course is a very good alternative to the Level 3 in Health and Safety. It is not recommended that learners complete both this course and the Level 3 Health and Safety as some content is duplicated.
Course Summary
The ‘Principles’ element of this course develops the learner’s understanding of the legal framework associated with risk assessment, how they are written and acted upon, detailing the step by step approach to ensure they are as effective as possible.
The ‘Practice’ element of this course develops these concepts further through learners completing a risk assessment assignment and applying the principles to a real work based situation.
Length/Format
Online – approximately 12 hours.
Onsite – delivered over one day. A further 6 hours study is required – a combination of work based or home study by the learner, with support from the tutor as required, resulting in the submission of an assignment. Please note that before embarking on this course, the learner (and their employer if relevant) must ensure they have sufficient time, resources and flexibility to complete these 6 hours during a period of one month after Day 1.
Pre-requisites
None Specific. A basic knowledge of Health and Safety is required, and a Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace or equivalent is recommended. Learners must be at least 16 years of age.
Assessment
One assignment and a multiple-choice exam.
Certification
Certificated by Highfield. It is recommended that the qualification is renewed after three years.
